<media:description>My family have lived in this remote rainforest for 60 years, with a common dream of living a simple life in the countryside, growing food, using traditional building and restoring the rainforest. Three generations on and we’re slowly getting there.

Our environmental films document the landscape, the lessons we’ve learnt and our work as regenerative farmers here on Bundjalung Country.

We live on the land of the Arakwal and Minjungbal People of the Bundjalung Nation. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Country we live on and recognise their continuing connection to the land and waters. In this video, we share how we manage solar power, rainwater harvesting, and more — all designed to support a self-sufficient, low impact lifestyle on our 60 year old permaculture farm.
Built over decades, our systems are simple, sustainable, and rooted in a deep connection to the land. Whether you're starting your own homestead, planning an off-grid setup, or just curious about sustainable living, we hope this detailed look offers practical insight and inspiration.

We are sisters, Julia and Anastasia Vanderbyl. A few years ago, we began a journey to live a life in perfect harmony with nature. A life of caring for animals, growing fruit, planting trees, gardening, cooking, creating, building and learning to live with the land.
In this time, nature has taught us more than we could have ever imagined.

We thank them for protecting this rainforest and its ecosystems since time immemorial.

<media:description>Living traditionally means to live in tune with the countryside and the seasons and live to the old ways. This week Anastasia plays with Happy the duck in the stream, and harvests magnolia flowers to cook a cake. Then Anastasia builds a camper using only hand tools and bamboo, the magical fireflies emerge from the rainforest, Julia plants a garden and Anastasia sews a denim skirt. The magic of spring in the countryside is here!

We thank them for protecting this rainforest and its ecosystems since time immemorial.
